KPV — Anti-Inflammatory Tripeptide
KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is a C-terminal tripeptide fragment derived from alpha-melanocyte stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Mechanism Of Action
KPV exerts anti-inflammatory effects through multiple mechanisms: it inhibits NF-κB nuclear translocation by preventing IκB-α phosphorylation, reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine production (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α), and modulates inflammatory cell migration. KPV also interacts with melanocortin receptors, though its anti-inflammatory activity appears partially independent of classical MC receptor binding. Research has demonstrated its ability to cross intestinal epithelial barriers, making it valuable for mucosal inflammation studies.
